St. Louis Police Officers' Memorial Fund

The SLPOA’s Executive Board established the St. Louis Police Officers’ Memorial Fund in June 2014. The primary focus is to remember and honor all St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officers who gave their lives in the performance of their duties, in addition to other fallen law enforcement officers both state and nation wide.

The initial focus of the fund is to assist in sending officers and families of fallen officers to Washington, D.C. for Police Week memorial ceremonies. Currently, the Police Department is only able to send the family of a fallen officer the year that officer's name is placed on the National Law Enforcement Memorial, and other organizations, such as the Police Relief organization and the SLPOA have been able to send officers to the memorial as well. In the future, this fund will attempt to send more officers and families of past Fallen Officers to Washington D.C. to give all of our Fallen Officers the remembrance they deserve, letting all know they have never been forgotten.

For those who have yet to make the trip to Police Week, it is an unforgettable experience that all sworn officers should get a chance to participate in. This fund would like to ensure that more and more officers get the opportunity to embark on this experience at least once in their career.

While in Washington D.C., the fund will also prepare and place remembrance placards on the wall for each Fallen Officer on the panel of which each Fallen Officer's name is located to serve as a remembrance for that officer, as well as assisting visitor's during police week to locate the names of our Fallen Officers.

In addition to sending officers and families to Washington, D.C., the fund will also be used to assist in sending our officers to funerals of other fallen law enforcement officers throughout the area, making sure transportation and housing costs are met.

Fundraising efforts have begun with our First Annual Golf Tournament, being held at the Emerald Green Golf Club, on September 14th, 2014. Other events will be following. If you would like more information, or would like to assist in any way, please email memorialfund@slpoa.org.
