Fellow Police Officers:

As discussed at the past Association meeting, attached are three separate letters addressed to the 94 th Missouri General Assembly asking support from legislatures in defeating House Bill No.2117. House Bill No. 2117gives control of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department to the City of St. Louis. If this legislation would pass, it could have a drastic impact upon you and your families.

  • If the proposed legislation were passed, the St. Louis City Charter would require all employees to reside within the city limits. This could mandate that exempt employees move back into the city or face termination.
  • If the proposed legislation is passed, your pension could be drastically changed. The Mayoral Pension Committee has recommended changes in discontinuing the Lump-Sum, Sick-Buy Back, and place all officers, not eligible to retire, into a 401K savings plan, thus eliminating the current pension system.

The Association’s goal is 5000 letters so please review each letter and sign one that fits appropriately. Additionally, locate five other non-police officers (possibly family members) who are also against House Bill No. 2117 and have them each sign one as well. In short, each officer needs to sign one letter and obtain at least four other signatures.

In order to have an accurate count, all letters should be forwarded to any Division Representative or St. Louis Police Officers’ Association’s office. Remember, in order to have a dramatic impact, the goal is 5000 letters.

If you have any questions, please call the Association office (314-353-3200).

Thanks you in advance.
