Attention all members & retirees,
Proposition E, which re-authorizes the 1% City Earnings Tax, will be on the ballot for city voters this Tuesday, April 5th.
If Prop E fails, it will blast a $160 million hole in the city budget which would result in drastic cuts to the police department budget jeopardizing police wages, benefits, pensions and staffing. About 60% of the funds this tax produces comes from non-city residents and that revenue would be impossible to replace from other funding sources.
It is vital that all of our members & retirees and their families who live in the city get out and vote for Prop E on Monday. But, even that's not enough. We need EVERY member to reach out to friends and family that live in the city and tell them how important this re-authorization is to public safety.
The SLPOA Executive Board has endorsed Prop E because it is so vitally important to our membership. Please do all you can to support a yes vote on Prop E.
